Avocado Milk Shake with Gula Melaka Syrup

Summer is just around the corner and as the temperature is gradually going up, it's nice to sip this wonderful avocado milk shake in my backyard. Spring this year has been so good. Last year spring felt like summer and summer was as hot as I could have ever imaged. I usually have this avocado milk shake at Bumbu Desa restaurant in Malaysia. The only difference is that the restaurant serves it with some drizzled chocolate sauce and I like it some palm sugar or gula melaka syrup.

Ingredients

1 medium sized hass avocado
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 cup of water
some ice cubes

1 -2 tablespoons of gula melaka or brown sugar syrup

Directions

1. To make the gula melaka or brown sugar syrup, take 1 cup of brown sugar or gula melaka
1/2 cup of water in a  heat proof glass bowl and heat it in a microwave oven for about a
minute or two until the sugar has completely melted. Store in a  jar and you can keep in
the refrigerator and use it when needed.
2. Put all the ingredients for the milk shake into a blender or a Vitamix and blitz the
ingredients together until it becomes smooth.
3. Take a clean drinking glass and pour about 1-2 tablespoons of the gula melaka syrup and        swirl the syrup around the glass so that the syrup coats the sides of the glass.
4. Finally gently pour the avocado smoothie into the drinking glass and serve.
